'U' WORDS

underground storage tank (UST)A tank located entirely or partially underground that is designed to hold gasoline or other petroleum products or chemical solutions
unsaturated zoneThe area between the land surface and the uppermost aquifer (or saturated zone). The soils in an unsaturated zone may contain air and water. It is synonymous with the vadose zone.

Note: A majority of the terms and definitions are based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Brownfields Innovative Technology Glossary . Some definitions have been modified/enhanced to support the Tech Tree text.
