No timetable for re-opening of Wickaninnish dunes

Parks Canada and the Department of National Defence (DND) held a joint information session on Wednesday evening at Tofino's Ecolodge regarding the closure of the Wickaninnish Sand Dunes.

There were two people in the audience.

As was recently reported in the Tofino-Ucluelet Westerly News, the dunes have been closed to the public due to the discovery of an unexploded explosive ordinance (UXO) in February.

The dunes are considered a legacy site, which refers to a site that was either owned, leased, or used by DND and that no longer resides within DND's territory
