FITCHBURG -- A local company has been awarded a contract to help clean up contaminated soil and sediment at an airport in Vietnam.

TerraTherm Inc. announced that it would design a thermal-remediation system for the Vietnamese government that will be used to clean dioxin-contaminated soil and sediment at the Da Nang Airport. The design is expected to be complete by August.

Ralph Baker, co-founder of TerraTherm, said after the design phase, the subsequent implementation of the cleanup would last about four years. He expects TerraTherm to have a role in that effort as well.
