ISIS, The Institute for Science & Interdisciplinary Studies is pleased=20 to share with you- the agenda for our upcoming event, Federal Facilities=20 Cleanup Workshop: Technical Information. =20 We're very excited about this workshop, to be held July 13, 14, & 15,=20 2001 at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. The main workshop=20 will be preceded by the CITIZENS' FORUM, an event to be held from 9 AM=20 to 5 PM on Friday, July 13th at Amherst College. =20 During the weekend, the various experts involved in federal facilities=20 cleanup (technical-expert, citizen-expert, citizen-scientist and others)=20 will examine technical information needs and the role of citizen=20 participation in the environmental cleanup process at Department of=20 Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) facilities.=20 The mission of the workshop is to examine the roles of citizens,=20 professional & technical experts, installation representatives,=20 regulators, independent scientists and college professors in active=20 cleanup through improving the understanding of technical topics at=20 Restoration Advisory Board (RAB), Citizen Advisory Board (CAB) and=20 Site-Specific Advisory Board (SSAB) meetings. ISIS will use this=20 information to structure the National Technical Experts Network (NTEN)=20 and make it a useful tool for those involved in cleanup. The event,=20 which is the first of two focus group events, is supported by a grant=20 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The CITIZENS' FORUM=20 is supported by ISIS and its private donors and funders.=20 =20 The following is the Draft Finalized Agenda for this event.
