Join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, May 28 for two presentations on Department of Defense (DoD) research efforts to develop innovative tools for characterizing and remediating munitions and energetics at military training ranges. First, Dr. Thomas Jenkins, a private consultant, will describe new sampling methods to collect representative soil samples across large areas of military training ranges and analyze for munitions and explosives constituents. Second, Dr. Paul Hatzinger from CB&I Federal Services will present results from an emulsified oil biobarrier used to remediate co-mingled munitions and explosives (i.e., perchlorate, RDX and HMX) in shallow groundwater. To view presentation abstracts and speaker biographies and to register for this free webinar, please visit https://www.serdp-estcp.org/Tools-and-Training/Webinar-Series/05-28-2015.

Additional Upcoming Events in the Webinar Series
A May 7 webinar will feature two presentations on factors affecting munitions mobility underwater and in situ measurements. Dr. Carl Friedrichs (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) will discuss concepts and forces important in the burial, initiation of motion, and continued motion of underwater munitions. He will be followed by Dr. Joseph Calantoni (Naval Research Laboratory) who will describe results from a SERDP study on detailed time series measurements of the in situ boundary layer processes responsible for munitions mobility.
