Group wants city, Detrick agreement on notifications Discussion centers on standards for emergency notifications, deadlines By Courtney Mabeus Frederick News Post (MD) August 11, 2012A containment lab watchdog group is asking the city of Frederick and Fort Detrick to agree on standards for notifying elected officials about emergencies on post and to establish deadlines for communicating on nonemergency matters.
The Containment Laboratory Community Advisory Committee submitted a draft memorandum of understanding to the city's Board of Aldermen on Monday. The document asks the city and Detrick officials to set a time frame, within hours, during which the post must notify elected officials of "all incidents that may impact or cause concern regarding the health and safety" of the community.
The memorandum directs elected and post officials to respond to queries from each other on nonemergency matters within 48 hours. It also asks post officials to acknowledge CLCAC inquiries within three days by coming to a "mutual agreement about the appropriate timing for a specific response, depending on the nature of the inquiry."
