Perchlorate settlement reached, says Rialto councilman

A settlement has been reached in a long-standing perchlorate lawsuit between several cities, San Bernardino County and parties responsible for perchlorate contamination, Rialto Councilman Ed Scott said Friday.

The B.F. Goodrich Superfund Site includes 160 acres in Rialto and affects the Rialto-Colton Groundwater Basin, an important source of drinking water to residents and businesses in Rialto, Colton and Fontana.

Portions of the Rialto property have been used by defense contractors, fireworks manufacturers and other businesses that used perchlorate salts and solvents in their manufacturing processes.
