[This article doesn't say whether the "solid rocket propellant
materials" found on this property contain perchlorate.= LS]
Foreign items found near ElâMorro By Donald Jaramillo Cibola County Beacon (NM) March 20, 2012CIBOLA COUNTY - A large property landowner near El Morro National Monument found several âforeignâ items in about a 30 ft. radius that have been identified by the U.S. Army as solid rocket propellant materials.
âWe have not been able to identify the items as ours,â said U.S. Army representative from White Sand Missile Range at a public meeting at Future Foundations Family Center on Thursday, March 15. The army hosted the meeting to inform the public of the findings and its remediation.
âThese items are foreign to us,â he added. However, that does not mean the material is not U.S. as fly tests (missile test flights) had been performed in the El Morro area for many years and logging those tests had not been done for many of those years.
Testing performed on the rocket propellant by White Sands Missile Range Chemistry Laboratory was unable to link the recovered propellant to any known to have been used in the area.
