Vapor leak covered at depot

Workers at the Pueblo Chemical Depot placed an air-filtering device on one of the facility’s earth-covered igloos Tuesday afternoon after routine monitoring detected mustard vapor.

The approximately 100 igloos in the depot's G Block hold 780,000 artillery shells and mortar rounds containing a total of 2,611 tons of mustard agent and the igloos are monitored regularly.

Some of the decades-old weapons have leaked and others have expelled small traces of gas over the years.
