Truman site needs contaminant cleanup By SEAN KINNEY Key West Keynoter (FL) August 4, 2010City officials are waiting for the results of environmental testing as development plans for the 33-acre Truman Waterfront parcel are crafted.
The land at the end of Southard Street was given to the city in 2002 as part of the U.S. Navy base closure program. But at least one piece of the land, some of which was used for heavy marine- and industrial-related activities, might not be suitable for recreation due to contaminants including lead and PCBs.
