No further action needed in Hill Air Force Base PCB cleanup By Joseph M. Dougherty Deseret News (UT) March 23, 2010HILL AIR FORCE BASE - The 2007-08 cleanup of contaminated soil in a housing unit at Hill Air Force Base is sufficiently protecting residents, according to a proposed plan for the area.
Base officials are proposing that no further action is needed because contaminated soil was removed from Housing Area F - near the west side of the base - and replaced with clean fill dirt.
...In 2007, base contractors discovered soil contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, which can cause a skin rash known as chloro-acne at high levels and have been shown to cause cancer in some laboratory animals.
