Sunriver munitions hunt to begin|
KTVZ News 21 (Bend, OR) September 12, 2006
PORTLAND - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor Shaw Environmental next week will begin a site inspection of former Camp Abbot, the current site of Sunriver Resort, for any munitions left behind during military training in World War II.
Camp Abbot is a Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) used for military training.
The Corps will conduct a Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) Site Inspection (SI), according to Corps project manager Mike Nelson. "The SI will be used to determine what future work the Corps may do to clean up possible munitions-related components and chemical constituents used during combat engineer training," he said.
