Legislation introduced in the Maryland Senate will seek to protect the
viability of military installations such as NAS Patuxent River and
Andrews Air Force Base by requiring realtors to include notice of
military operations and noise in all contracts for home sales.

Senate Bill 17 has been pre-filed for the coming legislative session by
Sen. Roy Dyson (D-Calvert, St. Mary's, Charles) and will be submitted to
the House of Delegates by Del. John Bohanan (D-Lexington Park) in the
coming weeks.

"If there is a single issue that could threaten Pax and Webster Field, I
think it's encroachment," Dyson said, He praised NAS Patuxent River
Commanding officer Capt. Zachary Henry and recently retired NAS Patuxent
River Executive Director Tim Smith for getting on top of the noise issue
quickly and not letting it get out of hand.
