Brook Park council hires firms to help redevelop brownfields

BROOK PARK, Ohio - Brook Park is hiring consultants to help reclaim and redevelop brownfields.
 
Todd Davis, chief executive of Hemisphere Development in Bedford, told City Council recently, "You can ultimately attract amazing users that can really become community assets."
 
Mike Dolan, former Cleveland councilman turned Brook Park development commissioner, says the suburb has some of the best access to industrial transportation east of Chicago, with an airport, railroad lines and two interstates at hand. But the potential cost of cleanup is keeping many parcels idle in the roughly 1,100 acres of an industrial zone on the city's northern edge.
