More contamination might be at Ashland's Cadilac Paint

ASHLAND - Experts found barrels and stains that may mean more contamination lurks at the abandoned Cadilac Paint and Varnish Company, a federal official overseeing a cleanup project said yesterday.

The hazardous materials report about the 409 Eliot St. site is nearly finished, said Jim Byrne of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s New England Brownfields Team.

The town this year received a $75,000 grant from the EPA to evaluate the property, which is classified as a brownfield.
