Test results awaited on TCE vapors at Huron site Air samples taken from inside 2 elevator shafts in Building 18 By Tom Wilber Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) April 26, 2009ENDICOTT - Workers on the Huron Campus will know next month whether high concentrations of TCE vapors beneath Building 18 are passing through elevator shafts and polluting air inside. Scientists at the state Department of Environmental Conservation are awaiting analysis of samples collected April 6-7 from two elevator shafts and two nearby hallways at the micro-electronics plant, said Lori Severino, a spokeswoman for the agency. Bill Wertz, a DEC geologist, plans to present results to a local citizens group on May 19 in Endicott, Severino said. The group, called the Western Broome Environmental Stakeholders Coalition, meets regularly with health and environmental officials to address widespread TCE pollution in the village. ....
