Developer set to build housing near downtown Lansing Townsend sees spring start for three-year-old proposal Jeremy W. Steele Lansing State Journal (MI) December 6, 2007 A Lansing developer is moving forward with plans proposed nearly three years ago to build new housing on a largely vacant state-owned tract of land near downtown. Gene Townsend expects to buy the nearly 5-acre property bounded by Butler Boulevard and Ottawa, Sycamore and Ionia streets by Jan. 13, 2008, for $460,000. He's working on a plan to build about 65 housing units there. Most will be owner-occupied condominiums, he said. ...
