Dave Weber Orlando Sentinel (FL) March 17, 2007SANFORD -- A new Sanford-area elementary school will be built on polluted acreage the school system has been considering for months, officials said Friday, after an alternate site proved to have arsenic contamination, too. Superintendent Bill Vogel said he will recommend Tuesday that the Seminole County School Board proceed with the planned construction of a $16 million Midway Elementary School on 30 acres off State Road 46 east of the city. "I am comfortable with saying that it is safe," said Vogel, based on precautions intended to prevent contact with contaminated soil and water at the site. ...
