Just Moderating and Facilitating II Lately there has been some confusion as to responding to a posting with a reply to the newsgroup instead of to the original author. This message is also for the new Brownfields subscribers who aren't familiar with the newsgroup yet . The only way we could ensure the information you receive from the "cpeo-brownfields" Internet newsgroup stays on the topic of brownfields related issues was to have all postings come through a moderator which is me. (Tony Chenhansa). Here is how the process works: 1. NEW STEP. Before sending a new message to <cpeo-brownfields@igc.org> try to include a category in your header. A sample header "info request: Brownfields Investment Funds" Some categories: "newbie" – A novice in the newsgroup might be interested in covering a topic that might has been discussed before. "newbie: What's an EPA Brownfields Pilot?" "info request" – This is for people who ask for help in identifying sources of information. "announcement" – This category is for conferences, meetings, and request for proposals (RFP) "intro" – I hope that people recently subscribed to the newsgroup will introduce themselves and talk about their interest in brownfields 2. I receive a posting that is addressed to <cpeo-brownfields@igc.org> 3. I re-send the posting, with an approval code, back to the brownfields newsgroup 4. I do not edit or alter any documents 5. Almost always the name of the person who authored or sent the document originally appears at the top of the posting 6. Occasionally CPEO (cpeo@cpeo.org) or my email address (tonyc@cpeo.org) may appear on the top of the document, however, that does not mean I am the author. Sometimes the original author's information doesn't show up in the header. 7. If you want to create a response to the posting then you should reply to <cpeo-brownfields@igc.org> If you want to respond to the ORIGINAL AUTHOR who created the posting then you should reply by typing in the individual's e-mail address. This newsgroup was designed as a public forum for people to express their opinions, post information, share successes and setbacks, ask questions, and just plain discuss ideas. However, I will not post opinions that are directed towards individuals, these messages should be sent offline person to person. The best way to respond to something you either agree or disagree with is to post your information, opinion, or experiences. Hope this helps to clarify the process. Please respond with any questions, concerns, etc. Thanks for your cooperation, Tony Chenhansa -- [EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: CPEO'S PHONE NUMBER HAS CHANGED TO 415-405-7751.
