Registration and Housing

What to Expect from the New Brownfields
Registration and Housing Process

We’re excited to consolidate the registration and housing process for 2027 into one convenient system! You will now book your room when registering for the conference, and your registration and sleeping room will be linked and tracked in one location.

Do you typically require approval before registering? No problem! Our new system allows you to complete the full registration process, book your housing, and check out with a balance due while you wait for approval.

Select Brownfields University sessions and mobile workshops will go live with registration. Pre-registration is required, and applicable fees may apply.

Registration opens on November 18, 2026.

EPA FY2027 Brownfields Grant Opportunities

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization (OBLR) has issued the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the FY 2027 Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund (RLF), and Cleanup (ARC) Grants. These opportunities can provide critical resources to move projects from planning toward cleanup and redevelopment.

Get Ready to Apply

EPA has published grant guidelines, FAQs, submission checklists, eligibility resources, prerecorded training, and other materials to help applicants prepare. EPA will also hold FY2027 narrative criteria webinars on November 9 for Assessment applicants and November 12 for RLF and Cleanup applicants.

Brownfields Conference attendees know that successful revitalization takes funding, partnerships, community engagement, and technical expertise. These FY2027 opportunities offer communities another pathway to put those pieces together and advance brownfields projects.

For help with applications, reach out to your Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities (TAB) provider.

Applications are due January 21, 2027.

Smithers, WV Scores a Home Run with Perfect Pitch!
Since participating in the Perfect Pitch, Smithers, WV has secured more than $6 million in investment from Federal and State funding, corporate pledges and philanthropic gifts. “Smaller communities have fewer opportunities to make their case,” says Smithers' Mayor Anne Cavalier, “Our consultant has helped us refine our ideas, understand our path forward, and sharpen our pitch to other funding agencies, allowing us to garner actual awards.” The City received funding to purchase the property, improve the rail crossing from the highway to the site, add sewer and electric on the property in preparation for development, and to begin a lodging feasibility study. A regional grocery store and a solar generation company are both interested in investment, which will increase community resiliency and health.

“You need to have a realistic plan and understand where you want to go or else people will not buy in with what you are trying to do. The Perfect Pitch gave us that,” says Mayor Cavalier, “I used to have to chase people down to listen to our story, but now people are contacting us!”
