Watervliet Arsenal partnership gets to stay until June

Watervliet - The Arsenal Business & Technology Partnership, a nonprofit economic development group at Watervliet Arsenal that had been asked by the U.S. Army to leave, is now being told it can stay - at least until June.

On Nov. 14, the Army told the partnership's president, Peter Gannon, that the Army was not interested in renewing a longstanding real estate management agreement it had with the organization. Gannon was told he and his five employees had to vacate the arsenal by Dec. 19.

But after an appeal by New York's congressional delegation, including U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, it appears that the Army has had a change in plans, although an Army spokesman has yet to confirm any details.
