Job numbers on Mare Island hit all-time high, developer says

The number of jobs on Mare Island has grown to its highest level since the base’s closure, with more than 100 new full-time jobs added in the first half of 2017, according to Lennar Mare Island’s (LMI) July 2017 jobs survey. 

There are now more than 2,500 jobs on the island, with more than 110 businesses occupying more than 3.6 million square feet of space, spokesman Ed Moser said.

Mare Island’s job growth came primarily from the expansion of existing office and industrial businesses, including Film Mare Island and Mare Island Dry Dock and new businesses like Factory_OS and Moose Boats, he said. 

LMI facilitates business growth on Mare Island by investing millions of dollars every year to enhance infrastructure, upgrade buildings and conduct ongoing tenant improvements to attract new businesses and help existing businesses expand, Moser said.
