Sen. Casey ties PFC report to military funding By Kyle Bagenstose Intelligencer (PA) March 2, 2017 Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, announced Thursday he has secured language in the military's annual appropriations bill that would require Secretary of Defense James Mattis to deliver a report on perfluorinated compound contamination at U.S. military bases. For years, the Department of Defense has been investigating the scale of its problem: unregulated chemicals PFOA and PFOS are key ingredients in firefighting foams used for decades at military bases across the country. In Bucks and Montgomery counties, their use on a trio of former and current military bases is believed to have polluted the drinking water supplies of at least 70,000 people.
