Navy to hold drinking water information meeting in Chesapeake WVEC 13 News Now (Norfolk, VA) January 29, 2016 CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Residents that live near Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF) Fentress, as well as others interested, are invited to attend a public information meeting that will discuss the Navy's plan to sample drinking water from private wells near the facility. This comes after the Navy used fire-fighting foam that contained PCFs in past training activities on NALF Fentress. Navy installations across the country started testing on-base drinking water wells for the presence of PCFs in December. The compounds were used in several products, starting in the 1950s, for their stain and water-repellent properties, including the foam the Navy used to train sailors in fighting aircraft fires at sea and ashore. … For the entire article, see http://www.13newsnow.com/story/news/2016/01/29/navy-hold-drinking-water-meeting-chesapeake/79523482/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <firstname.lastname@example.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/military-cpeo.org
