Join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, January 28 for three presentations highlighting Department of Defense (DoD) efforts to characterize and mitigate PFAS impacts at military installations. First, Dr. Stephen TerMaath from the BRAC Program Management Division Installations Directorate at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center will provide an Air Force perspective on PFAS management challenges at sites impacted by aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF). Second, Dr. Jennifer Field from Oregon State University will talk about PFAS nomenclature, chemistry, and composition in different AFFF formulations used historically at military sites. In addition, Dr. Field will discuss novel approaches for characterizing individual PFASs in groundwater. Finally, Dr. Chris Higgins from the Colorado School of Mines will discuss the role of precursors in understanding the fate and transport of perfluorochemicals in soil and groundwater.
