Monterey Downs could run up against Army schedule By Phillip Molnar Monterey Herald (CA) December 10, 2014Seaside - Some of the land the proposed Monterey Downs development sits on will not be officially clear of military ordnance until at least late 2017, according to a new Army cleanup schedule.
Fort Ord’s Base Realignment and Closure office says it will now take until September 2017 to reach the last step in an approval process over the cleanup of hidden munitions.
The schedule was updated in November for the Parker Flats area, where much of the project is proposed to go. Roughly nine months earlier, it had the process finishing up around January 2016.
Monterey Downs chief operations officer Beth Palmer said the new schedule was of little concern because the physical cleanup of the land was done.
