by John Coté San Francisco Chronicle October 15, 2013Kofi Bonner stood on a hillside overlooking the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard on a sunny day this past summer and said his plans for a new San Francisco neighborhood would also benefit the surrounding community.
"You should know that we in Lennar have always believed the best of the Bayview, and we have therefore placed our resources alongside our belief," Bonner, president of Lennar Urban, told city leaders in June at the groundbreaking for the first of 10,500 planned new homes at the shipyard.
Mayor Ed Lee was even more forceful about lifting up the downtrodden southeast corner of the city.
…So far it hasn't fully happened, according to figures from the main contractor on the development, who says that it's not from a lack of trying.
