Bumping up on the western boundary of the base, the land is now under the protection of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. As outlined in a previous environmental impact report released in July, 108,530 acres of the valley would be permanently closed to off-roaders and used instead for training exercises involving thousands of Marines, along with tanks, helicopters and live ammunition. … For the entire article, see http://www.mydesert.com/article/20130213/BUSINESS/302130004/ "Also read the U.S. Navy’s record of decision at www.29palms.marines.mil/ staff/G4InstallationsandLogistics/Land Acquisition.aspx" -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/military-cpeo.org
