Gaston search turns up explosive bits of history

RANLO - Police found two more military bombs in Gaston County woods on Monday, possibly training devices left over from a World War II- era manufacturing plant in this small town 20 miles west of Charlotte.

Searchers from several law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive grid search for the ordnance on Monday after a similar bomb was found on Friday.

That bomb was found closer to people's homes - a wooded area off East Long Avenue, Ranlo Police Chief Tim Anderson said.
