Gaston search turns up explosive bits of history By David Perlmutt and Cleve R. Wootson Jr. Charlotte Observer (NC) October 25, 2011RANLO - Police found two more military bombs in Gaston County woods on Monday, possibly training devices left over from a World War II- era manufacturing plant in this small town 20 miles west of Charlotte.
Searchers from several law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive grid search for the ordnance on Monday after a similar bomb was found on Friday.
That bomb was found closer to people's homes - a wooded area off East Long Avenue, Ranlo Police Chief Tim Anderson said.
