VILLAGE OF LUCKEY, Ohio (WUPW) - An old World War II era plant and the 40 acres of land it sits on in the Wood County village of Luckey has been contaminated for years and residents there want answers on when it's going to get cleaned up. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers took over the remediation, or clean- up process of the Luckey site back in 1997. Ever since that time, the Corps has been investigation soil and water contamination in hopes clean-up can begin. Needless to say, residents are getting restless.

The Luckey site was apart of the Manhattan Project in 1942 and in 1952 it was a part of the Atomic Energy Commission. Hazardous and toxic materials, like Beryllium and lead contaminated some of the buildings and the soil on the 40 acre site.
