Change for land: Base to baseball By JANE ROH Cherry Hill Courier-Post (NJ) May 1, 2010The township has reached a deal with a developer to transform the former Nike missile base into a Little League sports complex.
Council voted this week to appoint Gloucester Township Sports Complex Urban Renewal Partners LLP as the redeveloper for the Williamstown Road parcel. Mayor Dave Mayer said the group, headed by baseball coach Joe Barth and developer David Lisa, wants to break ground soon.
"They are using something called recovery zone bonds. That is part of the economic stimulus package from Washington," Mayer said. "In order to qualify for financing using recovery bonds this project has to be settled by the end of the year."
