N.J. drinking water limit delayed Posted By Todd B. Bates EnviroGuy, Asbury Park Press (NJ) March 16, 2010Acting state Environmental Commissioner Bob Martin today delayed adopting a limit for perchlorate , which can cause thyroid problems, in drinking water, according to a statement.
The decision prompted mixed reviews from environmental activists.The DEP had proposed setting a 5 part per billion limit for the rocket fuel ingredient . But Gov. Chris Christie signed an executive order in January freezing the proposal and others while a Red Tape Review Group reviews proposed state rules.
