Ingleside City Council recognized as a base redevelopment group Council to continue effort to redevelop 155 acres of the base By Fanny S. Chirinos Corpus Christi Caller Times (TX) February 24, 2010INGLESIDE - The Ingleside City Council was recognized Tuesday by a federal agency as the group eligible to request and receive 155 acres of Naval Station Ingleside.
The council was recognized as the Ingleside implementation redevelopment authority in a letter by the Office of Economic Adjustment, the federal agency charged with assisting communities affected by base closure or realignment. The Ingleside base will close April 30 and the city council will serve as the implementation group for the portion of the base known as the Electromagnetic Roll Facility.
This means the Ingleside council can apply for an economic development conveyance for that facility. This kind of conveyance can only be granted to an implementation authority and would be of no cost to the city if it happens.
