|Subject:||[CPEO-MEF] REUSE: Ft. Ord Reuse Authority (CA) land transfer|
Army completes FORA land transfer By KEVIN HOWE Monterey Herald (CA) May 31, 2009The final transfer of 3,300 acres of land from the Army to the Fort Ord Reuse Authority was recently completed.
Now, the environmental cleanup of the property can proceed, said FORA executive officer Michael Houlemard. The Army paid $98 million to FORA to clean up munitions on the parcels, Houlemard said, and after that is finished, the land will be ready for reuse.
The transfer involves the Environmental Services Cooperative Agreement properties, nine parcels of land that were approved for early transfer by the Army to the reuse authority in 2007.
The parcels, located in Del Rey Oaks, Seaside, Marina, Monterey and Monterey County, will be developed for recreational, commercial and residential uses, as well as a state veterans cemetery.
