Vacant fort building to be razed DEMOLITION: Of former fort By KEITH BROWN Asbury Park Press (NJ) September 24, 2008The end is near for the six-story hulk at the head of Tinton Avenue, the owner of the Army's former Communications-Electronics Command property told a group of residents Tuesday. The long-vacant CECOM building, abandoned by the Army more than a decade ago, is scheduled for demolition to begin in about two weeks, according to Joseph Thompson, who is overseeing the demise of the building for West Long Branch property owners PRC Group. Thompson led a 40-minute informational session at borough hall with about 30 neighbors, outlining how the demolition will take place as PRC moves forward with its plans to build an upscale, age-restricted neighborhood on the 39-acre tract. ...
