Military Munitions Study Released
Locations near West Point reviewed for potential of unexploded ordnance

Results from a site inspection for a military munitions response study, 
part of a Department of Defense (DoD) - wide program to review locations 
on and off West Point regarding the potential for unexploded ordnance in 
areas no longer being used as ranges, have been completed.

During the study conducted by Techlaw, Inc., a DoD contractor, 
technicians assessed, surveyed and tested 19 sites. On West Point, Lee 
Housing and areas north toward Storm King State Park, were reviewed. 
Privately-owned properly included land along the east shoreline of the 
Hudson immediately north of Garrison, an area north of Cold Spring to 
the Breakneck Ridge Highway Tunnel and land north of the Academy within 
the boundaries of the Palisades Interstate Park.
