NISKAYUNA, N.Y. A new study shows some plutonium and other radioactive
metals released into the Mohawk River decades ago by Knolls Atomic Power
Laboratory have traveled far downstream into the Hudson.

The study found small amounts of the plutonium-239, plutonium-240 and
cesium-137, attributed to activities at KAPL, more than 124 miles away.

Government officials say that plutonium and cesium in the river sediment
poses no health hazards to humans and the environment due to the low levels
of concentration.
