Fireworks OK'd in Easthampton By NANCY H. GONTER Springfield Republican (MA) March 6, 2007EASTHAMPTON - Following what the state says are "best practices" to protect groundwater, the Kiwanis Club display of fireworks will be shot off this year from a site at White Brook Middle School. The Board of Health voted on Thursday to allow the club to situate the fireworks there, providing it meets guidelines set by the state Department of Environmental Protection, said Health Agent Dennis R. Lacourse. In April 2006, the Williston Northampton School, which had hosted the fireworks for more than 30 years, notified the Kiwanis Club that it would no longer allow fireworks to be set up at Galbraith Field due to concerns about contamination of the city's water supply. ...
