Lake City cleanup proves difficult
The northeast corner of Lake City is a significantly polluted area on the ammunition plant site. It covers about 240 acres. The area was used for disposal of paint, oil, solvents, other chemicals and glass in the 1950s through the 1990s. Officials with Arcadis, a company working on the cleanup, said Wednesday at a public meeting that contamination of some parts of the area may not ever be resolved while it may take more than 100 years before a potable well can be drilled from some areas. ...
