PSB eyes wind site up close, and from afar|
By Carla Occaso Barre Montpelier Times Argus (VT) June 23, 2006
EAST HAVEN - It was the last step - a literal one - in a process that has taken four years now.
Two members of the Vermont Public Service Board walked, and drove, around the site of an old radar base where East Haven Windfarm hopes to put up four 330-foot wind turbines.
The Montpelier-based company is proposing the first windfarm complex since the one installed at Searsburg in southern Vermont, and is hoping for a favorable decision from the Public Service Board, the state body overseeing utility projects.
PSB members John Burke and David Coen toured the site Thursday, eyeing the remote 3,400-foot-tall mountaintop where East Haven Windfarm president Matthew Rubin and vice president David Rapaport proposed erecting at the site of a former Cold War era radar base.
