Moran says Corps negligent
Local entities want Corps of Engineers off cleanup project

Armed with a private study that says a massive plume of groundwater
contamination could reach the city's water wells in eight years - not 75
years, as was recently reported - a group of Salina officials Thursday
night said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is no longer fit to oversee
cleanup of the former Schilling Air Force Base.

"We have squandered time," Tim Rogers, director of the Salina Airport
Authority, told a near-capacity crowd of at least 100 at Kansas State
University at Salinaâ??s College Center conference room.

"The Corps' reports are poorly prepared. The data are hard to find valid. A
different direction should be taken."
