US Navy sorry about dumped rubbishCameron Atfield, Patrick Watson and Jason Gregory Brisbane Courier Mail (Queensland, Australia) January 31, 2006 THE captain of the US aircraft carrier that dumped rubbish across Queensland's southern waters has issued a written apology. Seven bags of rubbish from the giant warship have now been found along the coastline and environmentalists are alarmed about chemical contamination from a $42 million fighter plane from the ship which crashed in to the ocean on Saturday. USS Ronald Reagan commanding officer Captain Terry B. Kraft said both he and his crew took the rubbish incident very seriously. He said they had extensive procedures in place to protect the environment and that plastics were usually held onboard the ship and disposed of ashore. ...
