Senate passes perchlorate evaluation bill

The state Senate on Thursday narrowly approved a bill that would require 
California to re-assess its public health goal for perchlorate in 
drinking water supplies if new evidence emerges.

In April, state officials announced a health goal of 6 parts per billion 
for perchlorate in drinking water. Water agencies use the health goal to 
determine whether water is safe to drink.
