Subject: [CPEO-MEF] Small JP-8 spill near Yuma Marine Corps Air Station (AZ)
Trailer spills fuel near MCAS

Yuma Sun (AZ)
April 13, 2005

Fuel used to power a generator spilled onto Avenue 3E Tuesday afternoon
after the generator came loose from a military vehicle.

First Lt. Beatriz Yarrish, public affairs officer, said a fuel generator
used by Marine Wing Support Squadron-371 disconnected from a Humvee that
was towing it, spilling JP-8 fuel. The Humvee was traveling south on
Avenue 3E just south of County 13th Street, according to Yuma Fire
Department spokesman Steve Legros.

She said the surrounding dirt that came in contact with the fuel was dug
up and removed by MWSS-371 Marines. "There was no contamination of
groundwater because the dirt was dug up," Yarrish said.
