MILLVILLE -- The Army Corps of Engineers will schedule an investigation
of possible hazardous conditions on the site of the proposed Thunderbolt
Raceway at Millville Airport.

If the investigation finds no hazardous conditions, development of the
property will proceed.

Mike Stowe, founder of the Millville Army Air Field Museum, had earlier
expressed concern that part of the raceway will encroach on features of
the airport he considers of historical value to the integrity of the
site, such as the bore sighting facility, where aircraft guns were
aligned.

In March, after he had been unsuccessful in arranging a meeting with
developers to discuss the possibilities, Stowe said he wrote numerous
letters to various agencies expressing his concerns, not only from the
historical aspect but also from a public safety perspective. Stowe said
there may be unexploded ordnance on the site that should be removed
before any ground is disturbed.

In an April 5 response, the Army Corps of Engineers said it expects to
begin development of a work plan and initiate a site inspection of the
Millville FUDS (formerly used defense site) under the Military Munitions
Response Program in the June 2005 timeframe, subject to agreement with
the property owners to allow access.
