Subject: [CPEO-MEF] ATSDR to visit Camp Lejeune
Hearing focus on exposure to bad base water

Jacksonville Daily News (NC)
February 12, 2005

The federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry will host
meetings next week to determine whether additional studies are needed
concerning water contamination at Camp Lejeune between 1968 and 1985.

According to ATSDR, a panel of scientists - including cancer
specialists, epidemiologists, toxicologists and environmental health
experts - will discuss the possibility of conducting studies on the
children and adults who lived or worked on base during the time period.

Studies have already been conducted by the ATSDR involving the children
that were in the womb during this period. These studies have suggested
that there may be a link between the children born with cancers or birth
defects and the water contamination.
