New Land Mine Detection Devloped

ATLANTA (AP) - With land mines left over from past wars posing a threat to
peacetime populations, scientists at Georgia Institute of Technology say
they may have a way of detecting the devices as they lay hidden from sight.

The trick? Detect them with sound.

Associate professor Waymond Scott and his team of researchers say they have
made progress with a system that shakes the ground to create sound waves
that could be used to detect all kinds of mines.
