He and his buddies tossed the object around and tried to break it open by throwing it hard at the ground. It was a puzzle. Adam stashed it in his room. Adam's mother, Sharon Petersen, saw her son showing the metal ball to some friends Thursday and wondered what it could be. Monday she took it to work, thinking her co-workers at Design Lighting in Bend might know what it was. They didn't, but they were intrigued.
