CEO's positive spin still leaves questions about Oz

Updated 1:53:44 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2000

The CEO of Oz Entertainment said the park would draw more revenue than the
Kansas City Chiefs and Royals combined.

By Dave Ranney, Journal-World Writer

DeSoto -- Robert Kory, the man behind the proposed Wizard of Oz theme park,
was in DeSoto on Tuesday, hoping to soothe area residents' worries that the
project is ill-conceived and poorly financed.

"I am here to earn the privilege of calling DeSoto home," Kory said,
addressing about 80 people -- skeptics, mostly -- at a public forum
sponsored by the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce.

The project, he said, has been heartily endorsed by nationally known
theme-park developers and will have little trouble attracting
entertainment-industry investors.
