GLOBAL GREEN USA works in cooperation with citizens, industry, and
government at all levels to create a global value shift toward a sustainable
future. The organization is dedicated to:
 accelerating the cleanup and reuse of military facilities;
 creating sustainable communities, including the "greening" of affordable
housing; and
 preventing international resource-based conflicts related to freshwater.
Global Green USA is the American affiliate of Green Cross International. It
was founded in 1994 by businesswoman and activist Diane Meyer Simon after
Mikhail Gorbachev invited her to join his global environmental movement.

The LEGACY PROGRAM is dedicated to relieving the lingering legacy of the
cold war:
 military toxic contamination;
 obsolete & excess weapons inventories;
 chemical weapons stockpiles; and
 abandoned facilities.
The Legacy Forum is an annual program intended to facilitate dialogue on
military environmental cleanup, base conversion and community redevelopment,
to introduce innovative projects and promote timely policy decisions. The
1997 Forum brings together stakeholders from communities, all levels of
government, and business to build consensus on cleanup and conservation
efforts at military facilities and similar sites throughout the Midwest and
nationally.

THE GOALS OF THE FORUM ARE TO:
 Expose stakeholders to a variety of innovative cleanup and redevelopment
projects at military facilities;
 create effective networks between individuals and groups nationwide;
 share tools and resources between community redevelopment interests to
build sustainable communities;
 heighten awareness in the Midwest and around the country on military base
cleanup and redevelopment; and
 stimulate media attention to the crucial need for successful base cleanup
and conversion.
